British photographer Ben McMillan lives in London after working in China for more than ten years, based in Beijing.
Graduating in Modern History from Edinburgh University, Ben began his career in journalism as an Asia-Pacific business reporter with aviation industry magazine, Flight International, based in Singapore. Before work as a freelance photojournalist covering Southern Africa from Cape Town.
From there Ben moved back to London to work as a Producer on flagship BBC World Service news programs Newshour and The World Today. He specialised in defence and coverage of the Middle East, including work as a broadcast reporter.
Ben’s next move was to China, in 2005, combining his passions for photography, travel and global affairs. Throughout this time he documented change at a pivotal time for the country, while building an extensive range of editorial and commercial clients.
Ben also founded a large commercial studio in Beijing, which he evolved into a leading production company, supporting commercial and editorial clients like Vogue America, GQ America, Sony Movies and many more.
